“What’s your favourite scary movie?” -
Scream (1996)
It’s almost Halloween! I’m not really one that celebrates but I have enjoyed the many amazing halloween films that came out throughout the years.
This list isn’t in any specific order, just me writing along with my memory.
1. Halloween Town (1-4): Yes I’m including all of them. I absolutely loved watching these annually whenever October began. I still remember when they were brand new. It feels weird to think of them as older films now.
2. Twitches (& Twitches Too): I can still rewatch these. Surprisingly they don’t feel too childish and I enjoy them! Also super iconic. I love stories about witches and in this story it’s also a tale of two sisters, twins!
3. Corpse Bride: an absolute classic. Tim Burton is great at creating beauty within darkness. Corpse Bride really was beautiful.
5. Insidious: the obsession I had with these films was crazy. I remember thinking it was the coolest story line ever.
6. Scream: now I’m a sucker for slashers and scream did not disappoint. It’s fun, thrilling, scary, funny and just a roller coaster ride of a watch. So brilliant.
7. Conjuring: the only horror film to actually scare me but I loved it so much that rewatched so many times! I was obsessed with Ed and Lorraine haha.
8. American Horror Story: I loved so many seasons; Murder House, Asylum, Coven and Freak Show were so brilliant, I actually miss Jessica Lange on the show.
9. Scream Queens: I loved it at first then hated it. Then I gave it another chance years later and absolutely loved it. It was hilarious and misunderstood hence being cancelled.
10. Haunting of Hill House: my comfort show which people find weird. I’ve never seen horror so beautifully and tragically done. I absolutely fell in love with the characters and could see a reflection of my own life on the show. It was such a beautiful experience watching it the first time and it’s the same on the 5th rewatch.
I’d love to know your lists and which horror films or shows had you compelled to the screen.
Please please please share your favourites for this Halloween! I’d love to know whether you’re into horror or not.
Love,
Imaan xx
