throughout the colder months and in time for Christmas. Here are some tips and tricks to help you stay active and eat well during autumn and winter:
Staying Active:
- Exercise indoors: those songs you absolutely love...dance around the living room or the kitchen or where-ever, or workout at home using online fitness videos or apps, YouTube is always a great option!
- Bundle up and brave the cold: If you prefer outdoor activities, dress warmly and enjoy the fresh weather, take a long walk or even just take a quick walk around the local area.
- Take advantage of daylight hours: With shorter daylight hours, it can be harder to find time to exercise outdoors. Plan your workout routine for the mornings or during lunch breaks to make the most of daylight, or even use it to start or end the day.
- Incorporate seasonal produce: Autumn and winter offer a variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables such as pumpkins, sweet potatoes, and cranberries. Incorporate them into your meals for added nutrition and flavour, there are non-seasonal options too but these may cost more.
- Stay hydrated: It's essential to stay hydrated even when it's cold outside. Drink plenty of water and hot drinks such as tea or warm lemon water- but honestly the lemon thing isn't for me, I hate all things lemon...
- Practice moderation: It's okay to indulge in seasonal treats...especially PUMPKIN SPICE, but practice moderation to really enjoy these treats.
Other Tips:
Get a good night's sleep:
Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep each night to boost your immune system and improve overall health.
Stay social:
Socializing can help combat seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and improve mental health. Plan activities with friends and family to stay connected and motivated.
