Why Christmas is more than just the gifts

"Just remember, the true spirit of Christmas lies in your heart"- The Polar Express

Christmas is a time full of various traditions and often traditions are different for each person and each family. For me Christmas traditions have a purpose, I don't just do them because its festive and it's Christmas, although there are a few that just are because it is Christmas.

These meaningful traditions often relate to late family members or good memories.

My first Christmas tradition is baking on the 23rd December. This is usually when I bake the Christmas cake and anything else I plan to bake for Christmas. This happens to be the date my step-grandad passed away, so it have become an annual tradition. This year I plan on making biscuit trees and a chocolate fruit cake so be on the look out for them over on our Instagram account.

The second Christmas tradition I have been doing for the last few years is baking a Chocolate fruit cake (of which I will be sharing in December) I loved baking and often spent many times baking with my nan at Christmas and after my grandad passed away on Christmas day 2021 it has become more important to me.

There are a few traditions that are simply just because I love Christmas. Since the pandemic when we all needed additional festive cheer the Christmas decorations start around my birthday (20th November) I absolutely love decorating for Christmas and trust me there will be lots of photos over on the blog Instagram.

Another tradition is the Christmas Eve takeaway, now none of us feel like washing up the day before Christmas so honestly...I don't as a family we all whack out Just Eat, Deliveroo or UberEats and have a
pre-Christmas takeaway. Saves on the washing up!

So there are a couple of Christmas traditions that I find help make Christmas more than just the presents.

What is your favourite Christmas tradition?

Kisses
