Movie Night in: Imaan's Fave Romance Films

'I want Jake form Sixteen Candles waiting outside the church for me. I want Judd Nelson thrusting his fist into the air because he got me. Just once I want my life to be like an 80s movie, preferably one with a really awesome musical number for no apparent reason.'
- Olive Penderghast, Easy A

Not doing anything for Valentine’s Day?

Whether you’ve got a partner to celebrate with, or you’re gonna have a Galentines. OR you’ll be spending it with yourself. No matter which choice, you can have a chill valentines in the comfort of your own home.

You could order a meal or cook, but then the next best thing would be to pop on a romantic film to get yourself in the Valentines mood.

Here are my top romance films that are perfect to get you in the feels:

1. Edward Scissorhands: such a cute, wholesome and pure romance. This one makes me cry, laugh and smile.

2 Howl’s Moving Castle: It’s a fantastical adventure that grips you. The love between Sophie and Howl is natural, pure and wholesome.

3. A Walk to Remember: Another pure and wholesome love portrayed in a heartbreaking story. This one you’ll surely need a box of tissues for.

4. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before: Fun, romantic, and sweet. If you love the fake dating trope then you will love this. I did not think I would enjoy it as much as I did. And now I love rewatching it too!

5. Your Name: Another adventure. But this is one of the most unique romances I will ever see. It makes me laugh and cry no matter how many times I watch it.

6. 10 Things I Hate About You: Two words. Heath Ledger. He was so dreamy in this. In this retelling of Taming of the Shrew, we see a beautiful romance bloom.

7. Me Before You: Don’t get me started. I love this film so much! Another one I love to rewatch an
d guess what? It still makes me laugh and then cry.

8. John Tucker Must Die: This is a fun rom-com. I’m not a big rom-com person but I sure do enjoy this one.

9. Easy A: Emma Stone is everything in this, and helloooo Penn Badgley with his dreamy curls. I adore this film. The fake dating trope exists in a way in this film but is constructed so uniquely. I LOVE IT!

10. Clueless: This is the film that opened my eyes to how beautiful Paul Rudd truly was. Is. What a cutie. And Alicia Silverstone’s iconic lines makes it an incredible watch.

Hope you enjoy a lovely night in watching some great films.

Love,
 Imaan
